The Anoka-Hennepin School District has agreed to pay a $25,000 settlement to the family of a high school junior after two teachers harassed the boy and subjected him to classroom jokes, comments and innuendos concerning his perceived sexual orientation The boy’s "fence swings both ways," teacher Diane Cleveland commented during a class in the 2007-2008 school year, according to an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. Former Robbinsdale coach/teacher killed in motorcycle crash
A longtime speech communication and drama teacher and football coach in the Robbinsdale Area School District died Tuesday evening when the motorcycle he was driving on a northern Minnesota highway veered into a ditch and crashed. A relative confirmed the victim was Ertwin Jones-Hermerding, 62, of Otter Tail, Minn. He was pronounced dead at Perham Hospital shortly after the accident, the State Patrol said. Jones-Hermerding was driving southbound on Hwy. 78 about 6 miles south of Hwy. 10 when his 2007 Honda went into a ditch on the west side of the road around 6 p.m., went over a driveway and landed on another driveway, the patrol said. Drunk Wisconsin police intern arrested after allegedly impersonating officer
MADISON, Wis. – A Madison police intern has been arrested after he allegedly impersonated an officer to detain three people. A police report said the 20-year-old intern was drunk early Friday morning when he approached three men. The man allegedly flashed his police intern badge, claimed he was an undercover detective, pantomimed a gun with his thumb and index finger and ordered the men to the ground. Police said he talked into his cell phone saying he needed backup. Authorities said he eventually let the men leave, saying they were lucky.
