United Nations: Iraq’s prime minister urged the UN Security Council’s most powerful members on Wednesday to cancel all sanctions and resolutions adopted after Saddam Hussain’s 1990 invasion of Kuwait. Prime Minister Nouri Al Maliki said Iraq was now a democracy that posed no threat to international peace and security.
