Angara calls for more agri budget anew

By: Marlon Purificacion SENATOR Edgardo Angara reiterated his call for more investment in agriculture as the country enters its rice planting season. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization estimates Filipinos eat an average of more than 100 kilograms (220 pounds) of rice each per year. Also, the country has continually faced the problem of high food cost, and, it has the highest food prices among the ASEAN countries. In order to address the needs of the country, especially since the Filipinos are very accustomed to eating rice, the government has been steadily considering the importation of rice to meet the demands of our people….
